(St. Johnsbury, Vt.) On July 1, five offices of Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC kicked off a month-long campaign to gather food donations to benefit their local community food shelves. The offices are located in Burlington, Brattleboro, Montpelier and St. Johnsbury, Vt., and in Lebanon, N.H.
Marsha Kuhn, training and computer support specialist based in the St. Johnsbury office, sent an email to all employees on June 24, asserting: “With rising energy and food costs, many organizations are having trouble meeting the increasing number of requests for food, and some are finding it necessary to turn people away. In response, the St. Johnsbury office is sponsoring a ‘Christmas in July’ project to collect food items for the local food shelf, and we are challenging the other DRM offices to do the same.”
Within 24 hours, all five full-time staffed offices accepted the challenge.
“It’s very gratifying to see employees in our offices initiate on their own, compete with each other and embrace an activity that will benefit so many in our communities,” said John H. Marshall, DRM’s managing partner and CEO. “It demonstrates their deep commitments to their communities and also activates one of our firm’s core values which states, in part: ‘We recognize our responsibility to give back to our communities. As a firm, we devote time and money to activities that better the lives of those less fortunate.’”
