(Burlington) Walter E. Judge Jr., an attorney at Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC, was elected by his peers in the Vermont Bar Association to serve a two-year term on the Vermont Judicial Nominating Board. The 11-member board is composed of three attorneys elected by members of VBA, two members of the public appointed by the governor and three members each appointed by the leadership of the state senate and the house of representatives. The board is charged with establishing criteria and standards for the nomination of qualified candidates for judicial appointment and screening, reviewing and nominating candidates to fill judicial vacancies in the state. Judge represents the Northern District, which includes Caledonia, Chittenden, Essex, Franklin, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Orleans and Washington counties through January 31, 2011.
